BSCI Audited Clothing Manufacturing in Turkey
If your retail customers ask for a social audit before they open an account, this is the part of sourcing that decides whether the order can happen at all.

Quick answer
amfori BSCI is a social compliance audit of a factory covering working hours, wages, health and safety, and freedom of association. Audits are held by the factory, not by a sourcing agent. We place production in Turkish factories that hold a current amfori BSCI or Sedex SMETA audit and share the report and its expiry date with you before the order is confirmed.
What a BSCI audit actually covers
amfori BSCI is an audit against a code of conduct, graded A to E. It looks at working hours and overtime records, wage payment against the legal minimum, health and safety, child and forced labour, discrimination, and whether workers can organise.
It is a snapshot with an expiry date, usually one to two years depending on the grade. A factory that scored A three years ago is not a compliant factory today, which is why we check the expiry rather than the certificate.
Who holds the certificate
We are a production management company in Istanbul, not a factory. We cannot hold a factory social audit and we do not claim one. What we do is verify that the plant which will actually run your order holds a current audit, and give you the report before production starts.
This distinction matters when your own compliance team asks for the audit trail. A certificate belonging to a different site than the one that sewed the goods is worthless in a retail audit, and it is the most common gap we find when we take over a programme from another supplier.
How compliance is handled through the order
Compliance is checked at three points rather than once at onboarding, because a factory can pass an audit in March and subcontract your order out in September.
- Before placement: current audit report and expiry verified for the specific site
- At placement: the site is named in your order confirmation and cannot be changed without approval
- During production: unapproved subcontracting ends the partnership, no exceptions
- At inspection: our own inspector is physically in the plant, so the site is confirmed again
Why European buyers ask for this now
EU due diligence and reporting rules have pushed social audit evidence from a nice to have into a purchase condition. Retail buyers in Germany, the Netherlands and the Nordics increasingly will not open a supplier account without it.
Turkey is straightforward here compared with several alternatives: the audited factory base is large, the plants are close enough for you to visit, and the paperwork is in the same formats your compliance team already reads.
