Custom Embroidered Hoodie Manufacturer

Embroidery on heavy fleece is its own craft: the wrong backing or an overdense design ruins an otherwise perfect hoodie. We run embroidery in-house within our vetted Turkish production network, so digitising, stitching and sewing are coordinated under one plan, from 300 pieces per style.

Quick answer

Custom embroidered hoodies are produced in Turkey with digitising, stitching and sewing coordinated inside one production plan, covering flat, puff/3D and applique embroidery on 300-450 GSM fleece. Apparel Manufacturer Turkey approves a stitched sew-out during 1-2 week sampling before bulk; MOQ is 300 pieces per style, produced in 4-6 weeks.

Why fleece embroidery needs specific technique

Fleece is thick, stretchy and spongy, three properties that fight embroidery. Stitches sink into the pile, the fabric flexes under the hoop, and dense designs pucker the panel around them. The fixes are technical: a cut-away backing that permanently stabilises the stitch area (tear-away is for stable wovens, not fleece), correct hooping tension, and on napped fleece a water-soluble topping that stops stitches disappearing into the surface.

Digitising matters as much as the machine work. A logo digitised for a cap or a twill jacket will stitch badly on a 400 GSM brushed hoodie; underlay stitches must first tack down the pile, densities must be reduced to respect the fabric's stretch, and small text needs enlarging or simplifying. We digitise or re-digitise artwork specifically for the target fleece and prove it with a sew-out on the actual production fabric before anything is approved.

Flat, puff and 3D embroidery options

Flat embroidery is the standard: clean satin and fill stitches, best for chest logos, sleeve hits and back statements. Typical chest designs run 5,000-12,000 stitches; large back pieces can reach 30,000-50,000 stitches, and since embroidery is priced substantially on stitch count, we optimise the digitising to deliver the visual result at the lowest workable density.

Puff (3D) embroidery stitches over a foam layer for a raised effect. On hoodies it works best for bold, simple shapes with clean edges, lettering and emblem-style marks, in satin stitch wide enough to close over the foam, roughly 3-12 mm column width. Fine detail, small text and thin lines do not survive puffing. Appliqué, stitching fabric patches down with satin or blanket-stitch borders, gives large chest or back coverage with a collegiate feel at a lower stitch count than filling the same area.

  • Flat: any placement, most detail, priced by stitch count
  • Puff / 3D: bold shapes and lettering, 3-12 mm satin columns, no fine detail
  • Appliqué: large coverage economically, twill or fleece patches
  • Tonal embroidery (thread matched to fabric) for a quiet premium look

Placement limits on a hoodie

Not every hoodie surface can be hooped. Left chest, centre chest, sleeves, back and above-the-pocket placements are all standard. Placements crossing the kangaroo pocket seam, sitting on top of thick seams, or landing on the hood itself need panel-stage embroidery, stitching the panel before the garment is assembled, which we plan into the production sequence rather than treating as an afterthought.

Panel-stage embroidery gives perfect flat results even on awkward placements, but it locks decoration into the main production run; you cannot decide the artwork after sewing. That is rarely a problem in practice, since embroidery is approved at sampling, but it is why we ask for final artwork before cutting begins on styles with pocket-adjacent or hood placements.

MOQ, cost drivers and sampling with sew-outs

MOQ is 300 pieces per style with 100 per colourway. Embroidery cost scales with stitch count, number of placements and thread colour changes; puff adds a premium for foam and slower machine speeds. As a working guide, one clean chest logo adds modest cost per unit, while a multi-placement design with a 40,000-stitch back piece is a meaningful line item we will quote explicitly.

Sampling takes 1-2 weeks and always includes a sew-out on production fabric, photographed and shipped with the fit sample. Bulk runs 4-6 weeks after approval; adding a garment wash to an embroidered hoodie is possible, embroidery survives washing well with correct backing, and adds 1-2 weeks. Road freight to the EU takes 3-7 days.
