What low MOQ really means in apparel

In garment manufacturing, anything under roughly 500 pieces per style counts as a low-volume order, and under 300 is genuinely small-batch. At those quantities, the factory economics change: fabric minimums dominate, setup costs are spread thin and the sewing line loses efficiency on short runs. A serious low-MOQ offer is therefore not just a smaller number on a quote; it is a differently structured program.

We manage production through a vetted network of Turkish manufacturers, several of which run dedicated small-batch lines. Our standard entry point is 300 pieces per style, and on knit programs built around stocked fabrics we go down to 100 pieces per colourway. Those two numbers are honest, sustainable minimums, not loss-leader marketing.

Four realistic low-MOQ routes

There are four proven ways to produce small quantities at factory quality in Turkey. Each solves the fabric-minimum problem differently, and each fits a different brand stage. The right choice depends on how much customisation you need versus how small you need the run to be.

The first route is a stocked-fabric knit program: your design, our proven fabric qualities in available colours, from 100 pieces per colourway. The second is the standard 300-piece custom run, where you control fabric, fit and finish. The third is a blank-plus-decoration program, printing or embroidering on high-quality Turkish blanks, which can run in low hundreds. The fourth is a capsule strategy: fewer styles at higher depth, so your total order book meets minimums while your range stays tight.

The trade-offs nobody puts on their homepage

Low volume costs more per unit. As an indication, a hoodie in a 350-450 GSM fleece that might price around 12-22 USD at healthy volume will sit toward or above the top of that range at minimum quantity, depending on fabric and decoration; final pricing always depends on the tech pack. If a supplier quotes big-volume prices at 100 pieces, the difference is coming out of fabric quality, sewing standards or their own survival.

Low volume also narrows choice. Stocked-fabric programs mean choosing from available qualities and colours rather than custom-developing a fabric. Some decoration techniques, such as all-over rotary prints or yarn-dyed patterns, carry their own minimums that no order structure can remove. We tell you at quotation stage exactly which parts of your design are driving quantity or cost, so you can decide what to keep and what to adapt.

Who low-MOQ production is right for

Small-batch production makes sense for new brands validating demand, established brands testing a new category, and businesses with genuinely limited audiences such as team wear or corporate merchandise. In all three cases, paying a higher unit price for a 100-300 piece run is cheaper than sitting on 1,000 units of unsold stock.

It is the wrong tool if your margin model only works at volume pricing, or if your design depends on custom fabric development. In those cases we would rather tell you honestly to raise the quantity, simplify the spec or stage the launch than sell you a small run that cannot hit your numbers. A good first order is one you can afford to repeat.

How to start a small-batch order

Send us your tech pack, sketches or reference garments with target quantities and any hard constraints on budget or dates. We review the design against our small-batch programs and come back with the lowest workable MOQ, an indicative unit price range and a sampling plan. Sampling takes 1-2 weeks and typically costs 2-4x the target unit price per piece, often credited against your bulk order.

Once you approve the sample, bulk production runs 4-6 weeks, and road freight reaches most of the EU in 3-7 days. From first email to stock in hand, a small-batch program typically lands in roughly 8-10 weeks, which is fast enough to run two or three test-and-repeat cycles in a single season.
