Why no-minimum factory production does not exist

Every garment order carries fixed costs that do not shrink with quantity: fabric mill minimums per colour, pattern making and grading, marker planning, cutting table setup, line balancing, print screens or embroidery digitising, and quality inspection. On a 500-piece run those costs disappear into the unit price. On a 10-piece run they would dominate it, pushing the price per garment to a level no brand could resell.

Suppliers advertising true no-minimum production are usually one of three things: a print-on-demand service decorating existing blanks, a sample room charging sample prices per piece, or a marketing funnel that reveals the real minimum after you enquire. None of these are factory production of your own garment, and it is worth knowing which one you are talking to before you plan a business around it.

What one-piece and ten-piece orders actually are

If you genuinely need one to ten pieces, what you need is sampling, and that is a real and useful service. We produce protos and salesman samples in 1-2 weeks, typically priced at 2-4x the target unit price per piece, and that cost is often credited when you proceed to a bulk order. Samples are made properly, on real fabrics, and are exactly how photoshoots, crowdfunding campaigns and buyer meetings get supplied.

What sampling is not is a production price. A sample tee might cost 15-25 USD to make where the bulk unit would be a fraction of that; the gap is the fixed cost concentrated in one garment. Understanding that gap is the whole story of minimum order quantities in one number.

The real low-entry routes we offer

Between one sample and a full production run there is a practical ladder, and we have built programs on each rung. Managed through our vetted network of Turkish manufacturers, these are the lowest entry points we can offer while keeping factory-grade quality and honest pricing.

Most new brands enter at the sampling or 100-piece rung, prove sell-through, and climb to 300-plus custom production within two or three orders. That progression is normal, healthy and considerably cheaper than learning the same lessons with 1,000 units of unsold stock.

How to spot a misleading no-MOQ offer

A few checks separate honest small-batch suppliers from bait. Ask what fabric the price assumes, and whether that fabric is custom-dyed or stocked. Ask for the unit price at 50, 300 and 1,000 pieces; an honest supplier shows a curve, a bait offer shows one suspiciously flat number. Ask where the garments are actually sewn, and ask for a physical sample before any bulk payment.

Also compare the offer against basic physics: if a custom-dyed, custom-patterned garment is being offered at 20 pieces for a near-bulk price, one of the inputs is not what it claims to be. Common corners cut are open-market fabric of inconsistent quality, skipped grading and fit work, and no inspection stage at all.

Our recommendation for very small first orders

Start with samples of your two or three strongest designs. Use them to test fit, photograph products and take preorders. Then place your first production run at 100 pieces per colourway on a program fabric, or 300 pieces on a custom style, whichever your design requires. Sampling cost is often credited on the bulk order, so the ladder does not punish you for starting small.
