Designing for coverage without losing performance

The core engineering problem of modest activewear is that coverage adds fabric, and fabric adds heat. The answer is not thicker garments but smarter ones: lightweight high-opacity knits, mesh-backed ventilation zones in covered areas, moisture-wicking yarns throughout, and layering systems designed as systems, a longline tunic engineered to move over a fitted base layer without riding up, rather than two unrelated garments worn together.

Turkey is a natural production base for this category: domestic brands have built modest sportswear for decades, so the factories in our network sew these constructions routinely, and the fit knowledge, where a tunic must hit on the thigh, how a hijab stays put at running cadence, lives in the sample rooms, not just in your tech pack.

Opacity as a specification, not a hope

Nothing undermines a modest activewear brand faster than a legging that turns translucent in a squat or a white tunic that shows everything under gym lights. We treat opacity as a measurable spec: fabrics are selected for cover factor, tested stretched over contrast backgrounds under strong light, and approved at maximum wear extension, not relaxed flat on a table.

The levers are knit density, fibre choice and colour depth. High-gauge interlocks and double-knits outperform thin single jerseys; matte-finish yarns reduce sheen and see-through; light colourways get either heavier constructions or lining panels through hips and seat. Every fabric we propose for a modest programme comes with a stretch-opacity assessment, and the pre-production sample is checked the same way in full movement.

The modest activewear range we produce

Core pieces include longline tunics and tees cut to mid-thigh or below with side vents engineered so movement does not lift the hem; loose-fit joggers and wide performance pants with fitted inner cuffs or built-in base shorts; maxi and midi sports skirts with integrated leggings; full-coverage swimwear (burkinis) in chlorine-resistant quick-dry fabric; and layering base pieces, fitted long-sleeve tops and full-length leggings designed to sit invisibly under the outer layers.

Sports hijabs are their own engineering discipline: lightweight wicking jersey, flat-bonded or covered seams against the skin, no-pin closures, and cuts developed per activity, snug low-profile shapes for running and impact sports, fuller drapes for studio wear. We sample hijabs on the same fabric platform as the garments so a full kit matches in colour and performance.

Fabrics, minimums and programme logistics

Fabric platforms mirror mainstream performance wear, wicking polyester and nylon-elastane knits, cotton-modal blends for studio lines, chlorine-resistant swim qualities, selected for the opacity and drape the category demands. Decoration follows performance rules: stretch transfers and tonal embroidery for logos, sublimation on light polyester pieces, reflective details for outdoor training lines.

MOQ is 300 pieces per style with 100 per colourway; hijabs and accessories can often run alongside garment styles in matching colours within the same dye lots. Sampling takes 1-2 weeks, bulk 4-6 weeks after approval, and road freight reaches EU markets in 3-7 days, with worldwide air freight for Gulf and Southeast Asian markets where much of this category sells.
